The board of directors of China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation Limited have released a statement announcing Li Gang, the Chairman of the Board and an Executive Director, a member of the Nomination Committee of the Board and the Chairman of the Strategy Committee of the Board, passed away on 14 October 2023 due to illness.
“During his term as the Chairman and legal representative, Li performed his duties diligently and dedicatedly, devoted great passion and efforts to the development of the Company’s duty-free business, and made tremendous contributions to standard operation and high-quality development of the Company,” the Board said in a statement led by Executive Director Chen Guoqiang (Charles Chen).
“The Board would like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Li Gang for his dedication and contributions to the Company during his tenure of office. Directors, supervisors, senior management and all employees of the Company would like to express their deepest sorrow for the passing away of Mr. Li Gang and extend their deepest condolences to his family,” they added.
Li was elected as Chairman of the Board and as an Executive Director earlier this year following the retirement of Peng Hui. He joined the company in 2016.
